It can be tough sometimes to watch major news happening somewhere else. The journalist in me wants to be there taking photos. I had that feeling on Wednesday after the Supreme Court struck down DOMA. It’s a pretty historic decision and being in DC for something like that would have been amazing.
So I did the next best thing and find a way make a photo locally. About 100 people showed up outside City Hall in Gainesville on Wednesday to celebrate the decision. It wasn’t a huge event but it was the best (easiest?) way for me to illustrate the news. It lasted about 20 minutes before a huge thunderstorm came through.
