After watching the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest with some friends, I headed up to Alachua to shoot “The Largest Small Town Fireworks Display in America.” (Self-described) To stick with the American tradition of stuffing your face with food on the 4th, the celebration included a rib-eating contest. After the contest I asked one of the contestants for his name and how many ribs he ate. He gave me his name then said “Maybe next year I should get some teeth.” Safe to say he finished last after eating only four ribs in five minutes.
Here are a few of my favorites from Gainesville’s celebration on the 3rd. And Alachua’s celebration on the 4th. I also threw together a video of some fireworks. It’s not much but I’m trying to learn some new tricks with Final Cut X. And figured slow motion with fireworks would be a good thing to try out. Enjoy!
